Russian Checkers

About the game
Russian checkers reward a longer view
Russian checkers is played on an eight-by-eight board. A regular piece moves diagonally forwards, but captures in either direction. Once crowned, a king can move along an open diagonal for more than one square.
Play against the computer, meet someone online or invite a friend. When a capture is available you must take it; look ahead to the whole sequence before choosing a route.
- Capture in either direction
- Regular pieces advance forwards, but can jump an opposing piece backwards.
- Flying kings
- A king can travel along a clear diagonal instead of moving just one square.
- Ways to play
- Choose a computer opponent, an online match or a game with a friend.
- Tactical sequences
- A compulsory capture can lead into a longer combination.
How does a king move in Russian checkers?
A king may travel along an open diagonal for several squares and capture an opposing piece from a distance. A regular piece moves forwards but may capture backwards. If a capture is available, it must be taken.
